Components today are struggling to create better board meetings, and it’s our role as component relations professionals to assist them. Based on a recent Component Relations Virtual Roundtable, here are some tips and examples on how to better assist components.

As component relations professionals, one of the biggest challenges we face is assisting our components with running effective board meetings. Component board members typically do not come onto a board having the foundational knowledge or skill set to run this type of meeting. This is a skill set that we, as component relations professionals (CRPs), can help implement to keep a component running effectively.

During May’s Component Relations Virtual Roundtable, we discussed several ways of helping components foster more effective board meetings, and while most presenters typically focus only on the responsibilities of individual board members, this session also examined the responsibilities of the board as a whole. Each of these elements is needed for components to have better board meetings.

When looking at the responsibilities of a board as a whole, the focus was on helping component leaders in many key areas that boards tend to overlook.
